The UK government offers funded early years childcare hours to eligible families — and Keren’s Nursery is proud to accept funded places across all four of our London branches: Belsize Park, Hampstead Garden Suburb, Holland Park and Wimbledon.
Free Childcare Hours at Keren's Nursery — What You Need to Know
How Many Free Hours Could Your Child Receive?
- 15 hours per week (all eligible 3 and 4 year olds): All children aged 3 and 4 are entitled to 15 hours of free childcare per week, 38 weeks per year (570 hours per year). This is available regardless of parental employment status or household income.
- 30 hours per week (working families): Working families where both parents (or a single parent) earn at least the National Living Wage for 16 hours per week, and neither earns more than £100,000 per year, may be entitled to 30 hours of free childcare per week, 38 weeks per year. Check your eligibility and apply at childcare.gov.uk.
- 15 hours from age 9 months (eligible working families): From September 2024, eligible working parents of children aged 9 months to 3 years can access 15 hours of funded childcare per week. From September 2025, this extended to 30 hours for eligible families. Contact your preferred Keren’s branch to confirm current availability.
- 2-year-old funding (means-tested): Some families with 2-year-olds may be eligible for 15 hours of funded childcare per week, subject to household income and other criteria. Eligibility is assessed via childcare.gov.uk.
How to Apply
Funded hours are administered by the government, not by the nursery. To claim your entitlement:
- Check your eligibility at childcare.gov.uk or call the Childcare Service helpline on 0300 123 4097.
- Apply online through your Government Gateway account — you will receive an eligibility code.
- Share your eligibility code and National Insurance number with your chosen Keren’s branch when you register.
- We will confirm how the funded hours apply to your chosen session pattern.
How Funded Hours Work at Keren’s
Government-funded hours cover a set number of childcare hours at a standard rate. Keren’s applies funded hours to your child’s sessions, reducing your nursery fees accordingly. Please note that funded hours do not cover consumables (meals, nappies, sun cream, trips) or hours beyond the funded entitlement — these are charged at our standard rates. We are committed to full transparency: your branch manager will provide a clear written breakdown of how funding applies to your specific session pattern before you enrol.
