When it comes to pre-schoolers’ physical development, we leave no stone unturned. Founder Keren Ben Ezra:
“We believe that daily outside play is fundamental to children’s mental health as well as their physical well-being.”
We chose the locations of all of our nurseries with this in mind, so that children can benefit from as much daily outside play as possible. Our sites are located in the midst of a park complete with its own brook at Lyttelton Park in Hampstead Garden Suburb, at the foot of Hampstead Heath where children at our Belsize Square branch play weekly, and adjacent to charming private gardens, where children at our Holland Park branch play.
Each Nursery Also Has it’s Own Landscaped Outside Spaces
We encourage children to create, get messy, run around and let off steam in outside free play in a kibbutz-style setting. We elected to become Forest School Leaders accredited so that children could learn from taking risks in the natural world. From the age of three, children explore wildlife and learn physical skills that other nurseries might not always encourage during Forest School sessions. Think tree climbing and den building.
Child-Focused Occupational Therapy
We were thrilled when leading Occupational Therapist Kate Hesketh approached us to find out if we’d like to take part in her motor skills programme, Moving Matters. Since introducing the programme, staff members have picked up on a range of developmental delays in children attending the nursery, and now tailor everyday play to alleviate these physical difficulties.
We work on core muscles and hand grips, spatial awareness and independence. This helps young children sit for longer in class as well as maintaining concentration.
How We Keep Children Active
Our visiting specialist staff teach yoga, dance and movement on a weekly basis, and all children over the age of three participate in Forest School. We love it when children spend time outside and encourage this as much as possible on a daily basis. If you choose to send your little one to our nurseries, you can be sure they’ll spend time outside every day.
We believe that one of the reasons we excel in reaching all the EYFS targets is because our children are so well exercised!
