At our nurseries, we’re always mindful of consumption and reusing resources. Following on from our planet topic and combining elements of our Forest School sessions, children use natural materials and recycle parts of old wall displays to create a group tapestry. The foci for these activities are fine motor control and understanding the world, as well as vocabulary and sentence use to expand the use of descriptive language.
In a bid to focus on renewable resources and the power of sunlight, children have had a great deal of fun exploring the solar-powered fountain this summer. If you look closely below, you can see here they’re fascinated with the mechanism, and gradually figured out the role of the sun.
